In 1971 the Royal Ontario Museum initiated a search for this famous and unique pair of vessels which were in 1813, sending them, along with fifty three hands 300 feet to the bottom. In 1975, with the use of special underwater research techniques they were found - the Hamilton was found to be intact and sitting upright on the lake floor. This book is profusely illustrated with colour photographs taken by National Geographic photographer Emory Kristof. There are also engravings, portraits, documents and drawings.
